Mrs. Heilmann's Internet Guide:
Vikings

L'Anse aux Meadows
L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland, marks the site of the first known European settlement in North America. It was here that the Vikings built three timber-and-sod longhouses and five smaller buildings — and here that the first iron working in the New World began.  This site has great photographs of the remains and artifacts found here.

 Leif Ericsson
This is a short biography of the Viking explorer who settled in Newfoundland almost 500 years before Columbus came to the New World.

 On the Viking Trail
This Internet hunt for fifth graders was created by a teacher at Our Lady of Peace School.

The Viking Network - This site is a comprehensive collection of information and resources on the Vikings, designed by two teachers in Europe to be used by teachers and students, as well as anyone else interested in the Viking culture.

 The Vikings
Links to the answers to specific questions about Viking history, gods and goddesses, and everyday life make this site ideally suited for a student's first introduction to the Vikings.  There are four printable worksheets that accompany the text, and there are also pictures to use as story starters for your own Viking saga.
