Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Web Hunt: 2-4

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a very important man in American history.  He was a minister, and he worked very hard to make sure that black people were treated fairly.  He gave his important "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963 in Washington DC.  Some people did not like Dr. King's ideas about peace and love.  He was shot and killed on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee.


1.  Use the timeline to find the year for these important events in Dr. King's life.

  • Born on January 15 in Atlanta, Georgia

  • Graduated from Morehouse College

  • Married Coretta Scott

  • Wrote his first book Stride Toward Freedom

  • Gave his "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington DC

  • Won the Nobel Peace Prize

  • Was assassinated by gunshot in Memphis, Tennessee
