Mrs. Heilmann's Internet Guide
Teachers' Sites

Angela Ackley - Angela is a fifth and sixth grade teacher at Sts. John and Paul School in Ashtabula, Ohio.  Her Web site, The Teacher's Desk, is almost always included on any list of sites meant to be used by teachers.  Angela also is one of the two teachers who run the Reach for the S.T.A.R.S. Internet Reading Challenge.

Laura Candler - Laura is a fourth and fifth grade teacher in North Carolina in a year round school.  She is a National Board Certified Teacher and was selected as a Milken Educator (she got $25,000 and a trip to California!)  Laura is a strong advocate of cooperative learning, and she has published books for Spencer Kagen.  On her Web site, she includes PDF files for many of the worksheets she creates herself.  You just need Acrobat Reader to see them, print them off, and use them the next day.

Nancy Lefebure - Nancy is a fourth grade teacher at St. Margaret's School in Victoria, British Columbia.  She and I take turns with Avis Breding supervising the 5-6 Grade Connection list.  This year, Nancy has taken on the job of Technology Resource Person (in addition to her regular classroom teaching), and she created this Web page listing good sites for teachers for her first professional development program of the year.

Ruth Petsel - Ruth is a fourth grade teacher in Missouri, and I met  her through the 5-6 Grade Connection also.  Ruth is participating in a special eMints program through the state of Missouri.  She has 12 computers and every piece of equipment you have ever heard of in her classroom.  Her job is to have her students do as much of their work on the computer as they can.  She says they are "using technology to learn, not just learning to use technology."
